This application somehow has 19 letters of support together with no objection from the Parish Council… In a Conservation Area, this level of support is highly unusual.
The two-story element already has permission and comprises a modest addition to the end -terrace with the main roof extended down. The single-story element is a very simple rendered box with simple windows and doors. However, designs of this nature in Conservation Areas need to be better than this and we can see why it has been refused.
Modern interventions are acceptable in sensitive locations when they are designed to a high standard, the applicant/designers need to go back and rethink. There appears to be enough space for this addition but it has to be better than this. If the designer is not a qualified Architect then they really need one in this instance, this is not a simple project.
