The location of this proposal is on the outskirts of the village, which in planning terms is beyond the acceptable development boundary, and therefore not a sustainable location for the development of new homes. There are national policies which require local authorities to keep a self-build register, and from the demand generated from this, they are required to ensure that sufficient adequate plots are available to the register.
This application has clearly raised a good deal of interest, including objections, and the Local authority will always look for a sustainable location for provision of plots for self-build, but if there is a high enough demand and no other options available then there is an outside chance of an application of this nature moving forward.
PAPA Says - This scheme is driven by the local authority self-build register and the need for plots, and needs a planning consultant to advise on the opportunities for a planning appeal.
