Stunning Australian Houses | Tinderbox Residence

The Tinderbox Residence designed by Studio Ilk Architecture is winner of the HIA house of the year awards 2023. The building does not shout of any architectural style or command a presence, but rather sites silently in the landscape, resembling a series of garden walls. Built in natural stone with concrete floors, timber cladding and displaying a cantilevered indoor/outdoor infinity pool making best of the stunning views, the name Tinderbox Hints that the house is vulnerable and therefore built in bushfire-resistant materials. A commercial-scale solar PV and battery system and geothermal heating and ventilation system provide this home with the edge that befits and award-winning design.

It is refreshing that a building with such a subtle exterior can have but an abundance of carefully considered interior spaces which all combine to give a pleasing and successful home.
