Wimbledon Day 1 - A Property Snapshot

So where does Wimbledon sit in the overall property picture of our Capital City? When we look at the Foxtons Estate Agents average house prices for London, Knightsbridge rates the highest averaging at £2,641,363, Wimbledon appears to be much more reasonable with the average house price being £784,372, an affordable option for a well-heeled area but south of the river which does seem to make a difference.

Properties currently advertised range from the higher end of the market, a 7-bedroomed house in Wimbledon Village, priced at £8,750,000 which with a 10% deposit would require a monthly repayment of £50,000 a month on current rates, to a much more modest 2-bed listed Victorian Cottage at £750,000, which with a 10% deposit, would have a monthly payment of £4150 at current rates. This begins to equate to the cost of living in a rented apartment in the City, the main advantage being the close links to the wide open spaces of Wimbledon Common in parallel to access to all of the village amenities.

But as we know, listed buildings, albeit full of character cannot be easily altered, and so you pretty much need to adapt to living in the spaces you purchase. If you really fancy a challenge, more of a blank canvas, why not take on this tasty 1970's number, a 3-Bed, 3-Storey End Terrace on the market at £895,000 with a private garden and loads of potential for improvement without spending too much money, very de-rigueur, just needs a bit of imagination and a leap of faith...
